We’ve got a brand new web site at http://columbiatra.org.uk. This site will no longer be updated.
Please join us on Saturday 15 July from 1pm to 5pm for a proper East End Summer Get Together in Ravenscroft Park.
The event will be a celebration of all those things we have in common, and a chance for you to have your say on our community green spaces.
It’s a sharing picnic, so please bring a dish of your favourite grub to share with your neighbours.
7 PM start, address: 11 Shipton Street
Subject: Antisocial Behaviour
Please come along!
Our next AGM will be at the Sundial Centre, Shipton Street E2 7RU, at 6.30 pm.
We do not have a permanent venue for future meetings, but plan to hold the next one at the Dunmore Point Hut on the Gascoigne Estate (off Gascoigne Place).
Meetings are held monthly and take place on the first Monday of the month.
Hope to see you there!
Dear Friends and Neighbours,
The Columbia Market War Memorial Group is holding a pub quiz fundraiser on Monday 24th November at Ye Olde Black Bull, 13 Broadway, London E15 4BQ Stratford 8.30pm. I think there are teams of 5 and each team pays £6. The war memorial committee will even form a team! I know some of you are so clever that you could enter on your own and probably win and you can see Coronation Street on catchup so there should be no excuses!
There are lots of lovely prizes thanks to Trevor and Geoff and local businesses like Angela Flanders etc. The more the merrier it should be a great evening and hopefully a chance to raise some money for an important local project to commemorate the unnecessary deaths brought about by a racist attack by the Nazi’s on the local jewish Community on the first night of the blitz. The more money we raise the better the war memorial and celebrations will be for a certain Royal Dignatory to open next September.
If you need any further, want to donate a prize or any info please email our chair, Dr Trevor Wood MBE on trevorwoodmbe (Don’t worry its only an Honorary Doctorate) or Geoff on geotwi, We now have a bank account so can accept donations.
Please circulate this email to anyone you might think would be interested.
Just to let you know that the group has a bank account and is now able to accept donations towards the war memorial. If you would like to make a donation you can either email Geoff at for the bank account details to make a bank transfer or you can make a cheque payable to the Dorset community Association (who have kindly allowed the group to use one of their bank accounts) and addressing the cheque to the Columbia Market War memorial Group ℅ Dorset Community Assciation. Dorset library, Diss Street, E2 7QX.
The Council agreed support for a War Memorial at the Full Council Meeting on 26th March 2014 with the help of all our 3 previous councillors and there has been suggestions of locating it in the Sivill House Rose Garden. Funds need to be raised for the memorial itself as well as ancillary requirements such as plants, lighting, seating, access, security, which all need to be discussed. We are hoping that everything will be ready in time for the 75th anniversary of the Blitz on 7th September 2015.

Dear Monika, Pam and Spencer – anyone
I am not sure who the committee members are now – will there be new people elected?
Meanwhile, could you confirm that the next meeting is on Monday 1st September?
The most important thing is that our new estate/housing officer is present so that we can ask some important questions. Is it Juliette Salt? Particularly re decent homes and major works, rubbish/recycling collections, furniture dumping, pram sheds, inadequate horticulture work, overdue walkabout….
I have spent a ridiculously long time on the phone recently trying to get some questions answered and this costs money – and I get nowhere!

anyone wishing to speak should notify the chair and will be put on a list so that everyone has a chance to be heard.

Just a reminder of the Columbia TRA meeting tonight 6.30pm at 11 Ravenscroft Street. I have invited THH managers and Veola to discuss recycling.
I will also be stepping down as chair tonight so there will be a vacancy to fill.
